Information for artists interested in exhibiting at St Margaret's Gallery, Norwich

Situated centrally on St Benedicts Street in the Norwich Lanes area of the city, this lovely light-filled medieval church is once again in use as an exhibition space for artists and makers. The St Margaret's Gallery Trustees welcome all applications to exhibit in the gallery. Our intention is to make the gallery affordable for exhibitors and free to enter for visitors.

Our focus is on high quality contemporary art and craft and we particularly wish to support local and emerging artists and makers. Educational projects such as workshops and seminars are most welcome also. Recent renovations mean that the interior is easily accessible from the pavement for all wheelchair users.

EXHIBITING AT ST MARGARET'S GALLERY

Alongside exhibitions we would like to encourage associated activities such as demonstrations and workshops to provide visitors the opportunity for creative development.

We are trying to keep St Margaret's Gallery as an affordable venue for all - rates vary throughout the year and range generally between £225 per week and £450 per week.

We expect artists to steward their exhibitions, but we may be able to provide some assistance from our team of volunteers. It is essential that the gallery is open every day and is usually 10am-4pm but variation can be agreed by negotiation.

Artists will need to provide their own insurance for their work, but St Margaret's Gallery has appropriate public liability insurance.

The St Margaret's Gallery website and social media platforms will carry details of exhibitions but we encourage exhibitors to do their own publicity. The front railings are available for posters and banners by arrangement.

We are particularly keen to discuss possibilities for talks, workshops, community engagement and other educational projects etc.

APPLYING TO EXHIBIT

Our usual hiring period is for two week exhibitions. Installation will typically be on a Monday with Exhibitions open from Monday pm and closing on Sunday afternoons.

It may be possible to hire the space for a longer or shorter time by negotiation.

We welcome all applications to exhibit and will be pleased to offer guidance prior to application. We will favour local exhibitors but may allow some from further afield if there is a booking vacancy.

Our aim is to provide opportunity for all but require our standards of high quality work to be met.
